18. Ultimate Victory (WrestleMania VI)

WrestleMania VI was the first international edition of the show, taking place in Toronto in 1990. For the fifth time in six shows, Hulk Hogan was in the main event, with the WWE Championship on the line. He entered WrestleMania VI as champion, with the ultimate opponent across the ring.

Hogan’s challenger was The Ultimate Warrior, who was also Intercontinental Champion. It was the first time in WrestleMania history that the two champions would face each other. Interestingly, both titles were on the line, a fact not many fans are always aware of. WWE President Jack Tunney dubbed this contest “The Ultimate Challenge” for both men.

What made the match even bigger was the popularity of the two title holders. Hogan and Warrior were arguably the two biggest fan favorites in WWE. Pitting them against one another meant that the crowd would likely be divided — unless the match could deliver.

It wasn’t a five star match by any stretch of the imagination, but for the skill sets of both men, it did what it needed to do. Hogan and Warrior each got in their fair share of offense, while proving they could survive an onslaught as well.

In the end, Warrior was able to outlast the Hulkster, capturing his only WWE Championship. In a symbolic passing of the torch, Hogan embraced Warrior before leaving the ring. It was a temporary thing, as the next year Hogan would be back in the main event for the championship. But while it lasted, it was highly memorable.
