4. He Still Struggles With Promos

English is not Hideo Itami’s first language, and wrestling is primarily an English-speaking market. Because of this, he’s struggling to connect with the audience.

If Itami were given a manager to do all his talking for him, this wouldn’t be a problem. But who in WWE is good enough to sell someone like Hideo Itami as a threat? The only person who could do this is Paul Heyman, and there doesn’t appear to be any plans to introduce any new Paul Heyman Guys or Girls at this time.

If he’s left to cut his own promos, Itami will still struggle to make an impact in NXT. Most other wrestlers with a language barrier still manage to find a way to get their point across, either with a translator or by cutting short and simple promos. In Itami’s case, he needs to improve his promo abilities desperately, especially since the main roster is a promo-heavy environment.
