2. Bring Backup

Based on recent events, it’s very likely that this match may not be one on one for the entire time.

Owens has been chumming it up lately with Samoa Joe. Both men have a common ally in Triple H, and have been known to work together when it behooves them. Is there anything more beneficial to Owens than winning a championship? He is a prizefighter, after all.

As of this writing, Samoa Joe is not officially part of the WrestleMania card yet. You would have to think that someone so closely aligned with the boss (not Sasha Banks, the literal boss) would be involved in the biggest show of the year. Sure, he may end up in the Andre Battle Royal. But there’s a better than good shot that he’ll have something even more important to do, as well.

If Joe were to get involved, he may not be the only one to do so. If Owens can bring back up, Jericho is enough of a veteran to know to expect that. And there’s no shortage of superstars who can come out to even the odds.

Smart money would be on Sami Zayn. His recent history with Samoa Joe – and longer-term history with Kevin Owens – makes him a prime candidate to be Jericho’s backup. Like Joe, Sami has no official spot on the WrestleMania card. So he’s more than available.

But another possibility is Finn Balor. The Demon King is in the midst of a live event return to action after his injury last summer. Let’s not forget that Balor had to relinquish the Universal Championship, which KO then held for months. What’s to stop Jericho from recruiting Finn to watch his back?
