2. WrestleMania 23 – “Ladies and Gentlemen by Saliva

WrestleMania 23 would be the first time Mania to start the trend of having the event in massive Football stadiums as the show of show had been smaller arenas for the last three years. The big show needed a big time song to back the event and they found it in “Ladies and Gentlemen” from Saliva.

For most of the 2000’s along with Limp Bizkit, Saliva were considered the rock darlings of the company producing many songs for the company. The band had given tracks for the company to use for their events, even lending their skills to create original themes for both Chirs Jericho and The Dudley Boyz.

The band has also played in WWE live twice, playing The Dudley Boyz to the ring at WrestleMania 18 in 2002, and then at the end of the year playing Chris Jericho to the ring at the Survivor Series. For Mania 23 they lent the company their new track “Ladies and Gentlemen.”

The track and its lyrics perfectly describe the event and the feeling of the show of shows perfectly. Lead singer Josey Scott performs the song as an announcer telling a crowd what they are about to see and expect from the event.

Lyrics such as Would you bring your attention to me?, For a feast for your eyes to see, An explosion of catastrophe, and you will see that seeing is believing really brings out the feelings fan should have about the big event.

The chorus echoed do you want, do you need it, let me feel it, shows the fans desires and want, to see the big event and then show their emotion on how they view the event. Going into the main event, WWE played the song with the lines “Hang tight because the show is not over”, hyping and preparing for the major main event between Shawn Michales and John Cena.

Along with being an excellent event, Saliva gave fans a theme song that we still remember to this day.
