4. Kurt Angle Assists American Alpha

On January 16, it was announced that legend Kurt Angle would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.  Angle’s induction was only a matter of time as the former 6-time WWE World Champion was an absolute lock for that ceremony at some point.  But what’s intriguing about Angle’s induction is that it comes during a time where he’s still an active wrestler.  Sure, he’s only wrestled in 8 matches since leaving TNA in March of 2016, all on the independent circuit, (cagematch.net) but Angle still looks like he can go.  Not on a full-time basis, but with 4 major WWE shows each year, 4 matches sounds reasonable.

So with Angle coming back on Wrestlemania weekend for the Hall of Fame ceremony, would the WWE consider bringing him back in a mostly non-wrestling role?  If they did, a perfect start off point would be a mentor-like role with American Alpha.  Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are basically what Kurt Angle was when he first entered the WWE in 1998.  They’re two explosive, baby face wrestlers who use their amateur wrestling acumen as their base.  The difference is that Angle presented his character as a heel, something Gable and Jordan would be smart to do as well.  When they dropped the Smackdown tag title to The Usos on the March 21st Smackdown, you could hear audible boos for them from the crowd each time it looked like they were going to prevail.  These guys are heels in the making.

A partnership between Angle and AA would not only be great television programming but would be huge for the young, upstart team’s development.  Angle could teach them the heel ways because it’s clear that happy-go-lucky, overly cheesy and confident act doesn’t work for baby faces.  They could be the new Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin but this time with more vitriol against fans who didn’t accept them.  This will start at Wrestlemania 33 when Angle interferes and helps them procure the tag straps once again.
