4. Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit – WrestleMania 20

For the better part of two years, Triple H and Shawn Michaels engaged in a very ferocious and bitter rivalry. After battling over the world title at the 2004 Royal Rumble it seemed the two would face each other again at WrestleMania 20.

However, when Chris Benoit who was a Smackdown superstar at the time won the Royal Rumble match, he shocked the world when he left Smackdown to join RAW to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship.

After still having his eyes set on Triple H and the World Title, Shawn Michales hijacked the contract signing and put his name on the contract. With Benoit still deserving his title match, the bout became a triple threat match.

With the match now set in stone, the three men stole the show at WrestleMania in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden. The match went back and forth with all three superstars having a chance to win the match.

After tossing Michaels outside the ring, Benoit locked Triple H into the crippler crossface. After fighting for minutes to try and break the hold, The Game had no choice but to tap out, causing Benoit to win the match and the World Championship.

Unfortunately, because of the events with Chris Benoit and his suicide and murder of his family in 2007, this match has been nearly forgotten. However, you can’t take away that this was one of Triple H’s best matches at WrestleMania.
