Cody Rhodes vs. Jay Lethal in a Texas Bullrope Match

This feud has been building since Cody joined Ring of Honor, possibly even before that. Jay Lethal has feuded with Bullet Club in one form or another since the Young Bucks interfered in his title defense against Colt Cabana and the returning Adam Cole was revealed as their newest member. That was May 2016

Since then, Lethal lost the belt to Cole in August; Cody debuted in ROH by defeating the former world champ in his first match at Final Battle in December, via heel tactics. Earlier that same month, the “American Nightmare” was revealed to be the newest member of Bullet Club via vignette in NJPW.

At Manhattan Mayhem, Lethal teamed with the Briscoes against the team of Cody, Frankie Kazarian and Hangman Page. The Bullet Club got the win, once again by heel tactics.

On April 1st, Lethal will finally get another shot at the American Nightmare in a Texas Bullrope Match. The strap stipulation makes perfect sense. Cody has constantly ducked Jay during their matches and confrontations. Often tagging out and avoiding him, if not running away.

Both these men are two of the best pure talents in the business, if there are two men on the card that could pull off a strap match, it’s Jay Lethal and Cody Rhodes. With that being said, these two men have the capability of putting on a classic. These two can be innovative with this stipulation and not be hindered by.

If Cody wins, he keeps his heat. If Lethal wins, he gets his win back. Neither man will be hurt by a loss in this match but the winner could certainly be pushed into title contention.
