3. No One from NXT is Officially Being Called Up at WrestleMania 33

Since Baron Corbin’s official main roster debut and win at WrestleMania 32, there’s been this idea that NXT stars are going to be making the jump annually. From Shinsuke Nakamura, The Revival and Asuka — the talk has been about them. However, don’t get your hopes up because none of them should and won’t debut at WrestleMania 33.

Nakamura lost to Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: Orlando and had an emotional curtain call after the show went off the air. So, does that mean he’s debuting at WrestleMania? If he were to, the best time would be in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. The problem with that is it doesn’t give the King of Strong Style his own spotlight, something he deserves.

If Nakamura were to debut in a 25-man match that’s mostly the lowest of WWE’s roster, would that make him look any better? He’d be placed with Superstars that don’t matter much, and in a battle royal of all things. It worked for someone like Corbin because he needed something ground-breaking to get off his feet. Nakamura is a different case, as he’s a charismatic and superb in-ring competitor.

Asuka still has the NXT Women’s Championship. Given the call-ups of NXT stars over the past year, they wait to move them up until they’re out of the title picture.

The Revival could be a candidate to come up after WrestleManai 33. However, there’s no real fit to bring them up during the show. Why have them run in after the Raw Tag Team Championship match, especially if main roster fans have no idea who they are?

So don’t expect any faces from NXT to show up at WrestleMania. Maybe on Monday or Tuesday, but not during the Grandest Stage of Them All.
