Baron Corbin challenged Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 33. Who walked out with the belt?
At WrestleMania 33, Baron Corbin targetted Dean Ambrose’s WWE Intercontinental Championship. They started building toward this at the 2017 Elimination Chamber PPV, as Corbin viciously attacked Ambrose, who had just eliminated him from the WWE Championship match.
Following this, there would be a string of attacks from the Lone Wolf. It eventually led to the WrestleMania challenge, which was confirmed near the end of March on SmackDown Live. So who would walk out with the title?
This match surprisingly got moved to the Kickoff Show, with no prior announcement. For a vicious feud like this, it’s unfortunate.
They rushed things to start this, with Ambrose going quickly to the dive through the ropes and the hard hitting going on between the two. Things never really got off the ground in the ring either, with a frantic pace.
Corbin stayed in control of Ambrose for the majority of this match. He grounded the champion, including going for the injured ribs. The Lunatic Fringe was able to regain his momentum, though, for a mini-comeback.
As Ambrose went for a move over the ropes, Corbin caught him with a stiff right hand in mid-air. The Lone Wolf went to follow this up, but ran right into the steel steps.
Ambrose had one last attempt when going for Dirty Deeds, but Corbin went back after the ribs. He hit Dirty Deeds, though, and remained champion.

These two did fine with what they had to work with, which was about nine minutes. It wasn’t anything special, but did its job as a crowd-pleaser to lead us into the main show at WrestleMania 33.
