What went down in the grudge match between former best friends, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 33?

On the February 13th episode of RAW, Chris Jericho hosted the inaugural “Festival of Friendship” to celebrate his the relationship between himself and then WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens.  The duo had spent the past 9 months wreaking havoc on the RAW roster and Jericho seemed extremely happy with how things were going.  There was just one problem, Owens wasn’t.  After being reminded earlier in the night by Triple H that Y2J was the reason that Owens would have to defend his title against Goldberg at Fastlane, “The Prize Fighter” was not at all receptive to the celebration party.

After luring Jericho into a false sense of security, Owens viciously attacked him, leaving the former 6-time world champion in the dust.  Jericho returned 3 weeks later at Fastlane, distracting Owens long enough to for Goldberg to spear and Jackhammer him, which is basically all he can currently do, and ultimately led to “KO” losing his belt.  This all leads to Sunday and their Wrestlemania clash for Jericho’s United States title.

But how did at all go down?

Owens is out first.

And then Y2J.

The two immediately being to brawl and the fight quickly goes outside.  It’s all Jericho early.

“Stupid Idiot” chants are audible.  Owens battled back with a vicious savage kick and “KO” began to pound away.  After an Owens cannonball in the corner, he followed up with another on the apron.  Owens then began to jaw-jack Jericho and then slowed the fight down with a chokehold.

Owens continued to dominate with a senton and some vicious slaps.  Jericho battled back with a dropkick and a back body drop on the outside.  It was all Jericho at that point with chops but that was quickly thwarted by an Owens package style slam.  Owens looked to be opened up over his right eye.  It was a see-saw, as Y2J came back with a top rope hurricanrana.

A bulldog from Jericho and then a boot from Owens after a missed Lionsault and Owens got a 2-count.  Owens then went for a frog splash and then a Swanton, Jericho had the knees tip for both.  The back and forth continued as Owens landed a Samoan style drop.  “KO” then went for the pop-up powerbomb but Jericho countered landed the lionsault for 2.  Jericho went got a jumping hurricanrana and Owens countered with the Walls of Jericho.

After getting out, Jericho then ate another kick  Owens went for another cannonball but Jericho was ready and locked Kevin into his own Walls but Owens found the ropes.

As quickly as it looked like Jericho’s night, Owens hit the pop-up powerbomb out of nowhere for a shocking 2-count.  Owens began to then scream and slap his former friend and then went for his finisher once again but Jericho countered with the Code Breaker and Owens barely got the ropes on 2.

But in the end, it was Owens, landing a powerbomb on the apron for the win.
