Peyton Royce vs. Aliyah

Result: Peyton Royce defeated Aliyah via pinfall.

Rating: 2.0 out of 5 stars

Peyton Royce had a strong beginning of 2017, but did not make the NXT TakeOver: Orlando match card. Instead, she received a showcase bout on this episode of WWE NXT.

Aliyah is still kind of sloppy in the ring. She’s come along over the past few months, but showed signs of green during this match. Her offense was, at best, minimal, so she didn’t receive much of a chance to shine here.

Royce probably won’t sneak her way into the NXT Women’s Championship picture yet. Ember Moon’s feud with Asuka feels far from over, despite the pinfall loss on Saturday. If the War Goddess takes the title, then we could see the Venus Fly Trap of NXT make her way into the picture.

TakeOver Recaps

We get a few match recaps from NXT TakeOver: Orlando. This is standard for post-NXT shows like this.

Asuka Interview

We see the Asuka interview that played after TakeOver. She says she’s still the champion and laughs off “Who’s next?”

Aleister Black Recap

We get a look back at Black’s debut from Saturday night. He defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas. An Instagram post also showed Cien with a few women, likely at a club. They’ve really been trying to play up this partying gimmick of his since TakeOver, so maybe it’s the first attempt at establishing a character for the former La Sombra, instead of the generic luchador?
