This week on WWE 205 Live, TJ Perkins takes on Jack Gallagher, and Mustafa Ali is in action against The Brian Kendrick.
The latest episode of 205 Live has come and gone, with plenty of action seen. What happened leading up to the show, though?
This past Monday night on RAW, we saw a lot in a short amount of time — a backstage segment with Neville, TJ Perkins and Austin Aries, and TJP facing off against A Double. The match itself was pretty back and forth and TJP was able to roll up Aries for the win when Neville distracted Aries.
The big takeaway from this match was what happened afterward. After costing him the match, Aries called Neville into the ring. Before The King of the Cruiserweights could respond, TJP turned heel by attack Aries.
Getting the WIN isn't enough for @MegaTJP apparently, as he reminds @AustinAries just WHO he is! #RAW #205Live pic.twitter.com/PXG5U923dg

TJP seems to have been waiting for this moment:
The Brian Kendrick vs Mustafa Ali
Result: Mustafa Ali defeated The Brian Kendrick via pinfall
Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Another great match from Mustafa Ali and the same could be said about The Brian Kendrick. Ali has the early offense to start the match. The Brian Kendrick was able to gain control of the match after sneaking under the ring and pulling Ali shoulder-first into the ring post. Kendrick went to work on that shoulder and tried for the Captain’s Hook. Several moments later Ali regains control and looks to land the inverted 450 Splash but Kendrick knocks him off the rope. He follows it up by going for the Captain’s Hook and the bell rings immediately. Kendrick let’s go thinking he’s won but referee Charles Robinson yells to the time keeper’s area that he never called for the bell. The timekeeper is revealed to be Akira Tozawa. With this distraction Ali gets Kendrick in position to hit the Inverted 450 Splash for the win.

Backstage, TJP is interviewed and asked if he has anything to say about the post match attack on Austin Aries. TJ Perkins dismisses the question and says that Aries took his spot in the division. Jack Gallagher appears and says he doesn’t know what has gotten into him but hopes he’s more gentlemanly in their match tonight. Perkins responds by telling Gallagher that Aries isn’t the only one that took opportunities from him.
Rich Swann vs Johnny Ocean
Result: Rich Swann defeated Johnny Ocean via pinfall
Rating: 1.8 out of 5 stars
Not much to say here, Rich Swann beat the jobber quickly with a Phoenix Splash. After the match, he got on the mic to address the Alicia Fox situation but is interrupted by Noam Dar. Dar comes down calling Swann a liar and the two argue face to face until Fox comes out. Nothing really happens but the delivery man from past weeks is back and comes with another gift. Dar takes the gift, tells Swann to leave and gives it to Fox. Fox opens the box and white powder explodes out of box covering Fox. I wish this storyline would end already.
Aries is interviewed backstage about TJ Perkins’ attack on him. He says that Neville wasn’t trying to help Perkins but was using him as a puppet instead.
TJ Perkins vs Jack Gallagher
Result: TJ Perkins defeated Jack Gallagher via pinfall.
Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars
TJ Perkins uses the same video game music is somewhat odd. I would expect a music change just like the one Neville got when he turned heel. While the music might not have change Perkins’ in ring style surely has. Perkins worked a more ground based submission style more similar to what we saw from him in the Cruiserweight Classic. Perkins really went to work on Gallagher’s leg throughout the match and even locked in the kneebar but Gallagher was able to get the rope. Gallagher was able to get back into the match using his patented headbutts but ultimately the damage to his leg was too much. TJP is able to land the Detonation Kick for the win. After the
After the match, Neville met Perkins on the ramp and raised his hand in celebration.

While there was no straight up acquisition for 205 Live there may have been a move that adds to the Cruiserweight Division. Kalisto was acquired by RAW. It should be a no brainer to move the former Lucha Dragon to 205 Live and the Cruiserweight Division.

Overall another good episode of 205 Live with the exception of the love triangle segment. How do you feel about the new (and improved?) TJ Perkins?
