5. Kalisto

Unfortunately, The King of Flight just hasn’t been able to find a spot on Smackdown Live. Hopefully, the Superstar Shakeup can rectify this.

The former Samuray del Sol is a talented luchador with ten years experience. But, a combination of 50/50 booking and unavailable slots in the Smackdown roster has left Kalisto without a role.

With the departures of Shinsuke Nakamura, Tye Dillinger and The Revival, several spots are open in NXT. Kalisto himself was in NXT before he debuted on the main roster in 2015 as part of the Lucha Dragons with Sin Cara.

Since coming up to the main roster, he has become a two-time United States Champion. However, apart from that WWE booking has let him down. He was booked in a feud not too long ago with Baron Corbin in which he came out looking even worse than before.

Going back to NXT wouldn’t make him a NXT Championship contender. If it did, it wouldn’t be any time soon as a certain superstar is already set to battle Bobby Roode for it. Kalisto would most likely be upper-midcarder if he returned to NXT, pulling out great matches with the main eventers. It’s akin to the role Rich Swann played before the Cruiserweight Classic and one already held by Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas. Speaking of Cien, if Kalisto were to make a Full Sail comeback, the pair could really create something special.
