WWE: How the Superstar Shakeup Should Have Been

Raw’s Selections:

Raw hosts a number of problems. One of their biggest is that they lack a strong singles Heel. Kevin Owens could’ve been that for them. Unfortunately, poor booking and little clean wins led to him looking weak. Samoa Joe could’ve reprised that role as he did back in NXT too. But, it seems he’s being used as an enforcer.

Brock Lesnar doesn’t seem to get booed no matter what. Saying that though, he doesn’t get a pop either. He’s just — well… He’s Brock Lesnar.

So, in parallel to reality, The Miz & Maryse moving to Raw was probably the best thing. With them on RAW, they — along with Braun Strowman — can make up the prominent heels of the brand.

My next pick may divide some people. The WWE Women’s Division lacks depth, especially when they’re stretched across two brands. Sure, a few NXT call-ups like Asuka may change that, but stretching them across both shows isn’t efficient.

With that said, Raw’s second pick should’ve been the entire Women’s Division. Hear me out. With the entire division exclusively on one show, variation can be introduced into the title picture, keeping it fresh.

It also gives the WWE less titles to deal with. Additionally, it gives the division depth, where those who aren’t in the title picture can have their own feuds and build up their characters.

Of course, this will overpopulate Raw, but that’ll be fixed in SmackDown’s picks. This idea of exclusivity between the brands makes it so both shows are distinctively different, forcing fans to watch both shows to look for the wrestling they want.

Lastly, Raw don’t have a lot of mid-carders or secondary title contenders. Sheamus and Cesaro are no part of the tag team division, taking them out of the equation. There really was just Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, and Sami Zayn.

So their last picks should be Baron Corbin and/or Dolph Ziggler. This may potentially add too many heels to the picture. But, Ziggler has done well as a face in the past. It also helps SmackDown, as pre-Shakeup they were oversaturated with heels. A diverse mid-card not only helps make the secondary title feel important again, but it keeps watchers hooked. “Who’s going for the secondary title next?!”

New Raw Picks:

  • The Miz w/ Maryse
  • The Entire Women’s Division
  • Baron Corbin
  • Dolph Ziggler
