Breezango vs. The Ascension
Result: Breezango win via pinfall (2:36 remaining)
Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars
In a surprisingly short contest, Breezango defeated the Ascension to earn the right to be called the new number one contenders to the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship. Most likely they will have their chance to face the Usos at Backlash. This is a huge opportunity for the duo, but I honestly doubt they’re going to win the belts.
As much as I admire Fandango and Tyler Breeze for their consistent efforts, their win highlights the paper thin tag team division. There’s no reason why a lower-card team like BreezeDango should be taken seriously as contenders for the tag titles. SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity, but realism should be taken into consideration as well.
The sooner the New Day arrives the better, as their star power will serve as a great edition to the Blue Brand. Plus, the matches they have the potential to put on with The Usos are going to be great.
Right before the main event, the Cruiserweight Champion Neville was present backstage to hype up his appearance on 205Live. Also, the SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Naomi took part in an interview. Giving Charlotte credit where it’s due, the champion does admit that she has a problem with her challenger calling herself the greatest superstar of all-time. Tonight things are going to get done on her terms, and she states that Charlotte will feel the glow.
