The SmackDown Live Tag Team Division

Highlights of the Division

So the Beat the Clock challenge was set-up on Smackdown Live to determine a new No. 1 Contender for the Tag Team Championships, and it was interesting to say the least. The Colons lost in the opening match against American Alpha and Breezango pulled an improbable win over the Ascension.

Breezango was expected to make a splash after the dust settled in the Superstar Shake-Up but man did they ever get their feet wet. They might be the next challengers to face the Usos for the titles but they have no virtual shot of grabbing the gold. They scored their first win of 2017 to a team that wasn’t competing that much on Smackdown Live. Fandango and Tyler Breeze will need to prove their keep by nabbing some more wins before facing the Usos.

American Alpha and the Colons might have evened up their rivalry with one win apiece but it looks like it’s far from over since both teams are out of the title picture. They’ll need something else to fuel this feud between them or else it’ll become stale in a hurry.

The Ascension were quickly dispatched by Breezango but they’ll need to regroup and get back on the wagon. The former NXT Tag Team Champions have a lot left in the tank and could potentially make a serious run for the gold once the title match between the Usos and Breezango concludes at Backlash.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
