Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns look to settle the score at the Raw-exclusive Payback event.
A short time ago, Roman Reigns handed Braun Strowman his first pinfall loss at the Fastlane pay-per-view. The win elevated the Big Dog, and he would use this momentum to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania. For a while it seemed that Reigns had seen the last of Strowman, that is until recently, which led to a match being created for Payback.
Assaulting Reigns in the backstage area during an episode of Raw, Strowman injured his rival so badly that he was absent for several weeks. His attack led us to this contest, and tonight both men look to inflict pain on one another. Will it be Reigns or Strowman standing tall by the end of the night?
Seeing as how this is the main event for the evening, here’s hoping that these two men are able to produce another strong encounter. Out first is Braun Strowman, and the monster among men appears to be ready for a war here tonight. Roman Reigns is next, and his torso and left arm are heavily damaged due to previous attacks by Strowman.
Wasting no time at all, the Big Dog lands a few punches before being pushed into the corner. Selling the arm injury, he manages to knock Strowman out of the ring and goes for an outside dive. His opponent walks out of range, so Reigns decides to go for a his apron dropkick but gets caught.
Sending Reigns crashing into the announce table with a devastating chokeslam, Strowman takes the action to the inside. Running into the Big Dog while he’s in the corner, the former Wyatt Family member follows it up by sending Reigns into the ring post and steel steps.

After a brief exchange on the outside, the action once again goes back into the ring. Slowing down the pace, Strowman uses his weight to work the injured torso Reigns possesses. Somehow the Big Dog fights back, lifting up his gigantic opponent for a Samoan Drop. He follows it up with a clothesline, sending both to the outside. Reigns goes for another apron dropkick, and this time it connects.
Going for another, Reigns is caught and Strowman attempts a powerslam. The Big Dog counters, which leads to the monstrous competitor to crash into the ring post.
Beating the ten count, Strowman gets hit by a spear but kicks out at two. Reigns goes for another, it’s countered, but he is still able to hit two superman punches. Despite the assault, Strowman is able to lock in his trademark submission and hit the powerslam. Reigns lifts the shoulder before the three, much to the shock of his opponent.

Refusing to give up the advantage, Strowman hits another powerslam and is able to score the win. This was a huge win in his career, and it’s going to give him the momentum he needs to battle for the Universal Championship.

However, Strowman isn’t ready for the night to end. Tossing steel steps in the ring, he looks to inflict even more damage. Throwing Roman onto the steps, he proceeds to slam them into the injured ribs and leaves the ring. A bleeding Reigns is attended to inside of the ring while Strowman celebrates on the ramp to close the show.
