Follow along with our review of Wednesday night’s episode of WWE NXT.

On Wednesday night, the latest episode of WWE NXT took place from Full Sail University. This got us one step closer to the May 21 NXT TakeOver: Chicago event.

The main event featured a No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal for Asuka’s NXT Women’s Championship. Whoever won would get her at TakeOver: Chicago.

Ember Moon came into this match as arguably the favorite. She faced Asuka for the title at TakeOver: Orlando, but lost when the Empress of Tomorrow cheated and found an opening to take out Moon for the win. Would Moon be able to break out and get the win?

All this and more would be seen on Wednesday’s episode of WWE NXT. Let’s see what started the night.

Killian Dain vs. Danny Burch

Result: Killian Dain defeated Danny Burch via pinfall.

Burch had a solid showing at the WWE UK Tournament in January, until he had the back of his head busted open. It caused the match to prematurely end, along with his title aspirations dissipating.

Now, Burch has an opportunity to reestablish himself and potentially get in on the weekly UK show, which is doing a taping this weekend. However, that wouldn’t begin on Wednesday night.

Dain looked impressive in this match. He hit a dropkick that looked like it was done by a cruiserweight, showing off athleticism we haven’t seen on NXT yet.

This doesn’t do much for Dain, other than getting him into the ring for a brief appearance. He’s been quiet for the past few months, outside of NXT TakeOver: Orlando. The potential is there for the Beast of Belfast as a singles monster, but as he develops, he’s better off in SAnitY.
