The SmackDown Live Tag Team Division

Highlights of the Division

Not much activity occurred in the tag team division on Smackdown Live this week but there was a backstage skit being shown for the new No. 1 Contenders. Breezango hasn’t amounted to anything since forming a tag team last year feuding with Golden Truth. Their lowest point as a team was getting humiliated by John Cena and Nikki Bella by eating Attitude Adjustments before WrestleMania 33.

Times have definitely changed for the comedic duo and they might have a small chance to unseat the Usos for the championships. I do hope that isn’t the case because Breezango doesn’t deserve to hold the gold just yet. Championships shouldn’t be awarded to challengers who haven’t earned their keep on a consistent basis and this team hasn’t been dependable in a high-level standpoint.

Meanwhile, for the Rest of the Division

The Usos should be favored to walk out as the champions by the time Backlash concludes and should have their eyes set on the biggest threat to their gold—The New Day. That potential title match should determine of who will be the future flag bearer of the tag team division. The Samoan brothers could be looking at a brief title reign till Smackdown Live’s newest tag team finally make their debut.

As for American Alpha, the Colons and the Ascension—their pecking order in the rankings will fluctuate depending on their performances or lack thereof. Performing in the ring every other week isn’t a good look for these respective tag teams and they must be given opportunities to justify their worth as credible future challengers.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
