3. A Genuine Heel Champion
How long has it been since we have had a heel champion with real heat? I cannot think of anybody except may be the Miz with the IC title. Regardless of if it was AJ Styles or Kevin Owens, fans loved that they were champion. Despite being portrayed as heels, fans loved to cheer for them. As such, Mahal might be one of the last few true heels in the WWE. Moreover, most people do not want to see him become the WWE champion.

That factor alone could place an immense amount of heat on Mahal, should he capture the gold. WWE might not be invested enough in him to win the WWE title right now. But, if they do, then creative would have a true heel as the WWE champion for once. Even with Bray Wyatt’s WWE title run, people loved to cheer him on. WWE wouldn’t have to worry about any of that with Jinder Mahal. He is a truly watchable heel. Mahal is able to portray a heel who hates everybody with his mannerisms and his facial expressions. The Maharajah possesses decent mic skills as well. However, trying to have him play the foreign heel would be a huge letdown.
He is able to generate genuine and organic heat without any such plot devices. WWE should rather stick to the basics of Mahal’s character and let him run with it. They should trust their gut and give Mahal a genuine shot at the WWE title if they are committed to the new era. But more on that in the next slide.
