WWE SummerSlam 2017: 3 Potential Main Events Without Braun Strowman
WWE.com
2. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns was the big-name match headlining WrestleMania 31. They competed for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, until Seth Rollins interfered to cash in Money in the Bank, winning the title. This put Reigns vs. Lesnar on hold, but with the latter holding the Universal Championship, these two are on path for another collision.
A second part to this match would be a big-time seller for WWE. Lesnar and Reigns are polarizing figures, whether it’s due to their booking or how they’re presented, and are sure to draw fans to the Barclays Center – even with the fans hating the former Shield man.

Lesnar vs. Reigns would be the biggest SummerSlam main event since 2015, which saw the Beast Incarnate face The Undertaker. It was billed as the WrestleMania 30 rematch, which saw ‘Taker’s WrestleMania Streak end, and arguably produced a better bout that time around. This may be even bigger than that, especially with how far the Big Dog has gone since that WrestleMania 31 main event.
What goes against this singles match from happening is the likelihood of it going down at WrestleMania 34. This has been rumored since WrestleMania 33 season, and as we’ve seen the past three years, WWE will show no hesitation in putting Reigns into the main event of its biggest show. They may be doing this match as Lesnar leaves the WWE, too, since his contract will expire around ‘Mania 34.
Either way, expect Lesnar to be in the main event of SummerSlam. Could we still see Reigns involved in it, however?
