WWE Backlash 2017 is this weekend but there are a couple of things WWE need to keep clear of.

There are a total of 8 matches advertised for WWE Backlash 2017 — if you include Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English on the pre-show. There is a lot of room for things to go wrong.

Smackdown needs a strong PPV to start off the season. If we are really going to be led to believe that there’s a competition between RAW and Smackdown, then the latter will have to maintain good PPV booking.

Smackdown’s Creative Team have been criticized for the House of Horrors match at WWE Payback 2017, so it’s crucial that WWE Backlash 2017 ratifies their last blemish.

It’s a PPV where Jinder Mahal is contending for the WWE Championship; and Breezango are gunning for the Tag Team Titles. Creative really have to be careful.

It’s a real chance to create new stars out of Mahal, Breezango, and even the Usos.

Just a note: This article won’t contain booking for the main event, as the site has already written two articles on it: one on why Orton should win and one for Mahal.

Backlash is also a chance to see if the superstar shakeup really did add enough depth to the Smackdown roster.

That being said, here are the three booking decisions Smackdown needs to avoid at Backlash.
