Follow along with our review of the NXT TakeOver: Chicago live special.

On Saturday night, WWE NXT will return to the live stage for NXT TakeOver: Chicago. It’s their first big show since TakeOver: Orlando, which took place during WrestleMania 33 weekend. This didn’t see any titles change hands, but led to feuds either continuing or developing for the May 20 event.

The main event will see Bobby Roode defend the NXT Championship against Hideo Itami. This is Itami’s first-ever chance at gold in NXT, having had opportunities derailed by injuries for most of the past two years.

Earlier in May, the former KENTA won a No. 1 Contenders Match over Roderick Strong, earning this opportunity in Chicago. Will he make the most of it on Saturday?

Asuka had been set to put the NXT Women’s Championship on the line in a Fatal Four-Way Match. Ember Moon’s shoulder injury derailed this, however, making it a Triple Threat. Now only Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot will contend for the belt. Do either have a chance of becoming champion for the first time?

The Authors of Pain will have their third title defense, going against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. This time, they’ll face off in a Ladder Match for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

For the first time at a TakeOver event, the WWE United Kingdom Championship will be defended. Tyler Bate, who won the belt at the WWE UK Tournament in January, will go against Pete Dunne. The Bruiserweight will try to make the most of his second opportunity, and on NXT’s grant stage.

The final match will see Strong take his issues with SAnitY to the ring. He’ll face the stable’s leader, Eric Young.
