Bobby Roode (c) vs Drew McIntyre
The new and improved Drew McIntyre deserves the next opportunity at the NXT Championship. However, I could see McIntyre being swapped with any of the men in the previously-noted Fatal Four-Way Match.
As for Bobby Roode, he put on his best match since arriving in NXT against Hideo Itami. McIntyre has shown his superstar potential in the few times he’s been on NXT TV and a championship match makes sense.
SummerSlam season is similar to WrestleMania season, where NXT stars get called up shortly afterward. This could very well be one of, if not the last, Roode’s last NXT TakeOver event. The Glorious One has done a good job building himself up to be a star and has done well transitioning the brand to the new era of NXT. What a better way to finish the transformation of the old NXT to its new version by him putting over one of the best rising stars of the brand.
