WWE Backlash 2017: Reaction to Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin has been bullying everyone in his way to a championship opportunity.  He started with Kalisto and has moved on the Sami Zayn.  Zayn is one of WWE’s lovable underdogs and Corbin is looking to continue to build his resume at WWE Backlash.

Zayn definitely has the advantage in pedigree from both his independent runs and his run in NXT.  Corbin never reached the pinnacle of sports entertainment and is looking to make his mark now.  It’s a battle between two polar opposites where one seems to be finding his stride while the other is stuck in the midst of his career.

This is the classic rivalry between the showman underdog and the smash mouth straight a head competitor.  We saw this early when Zayn fakes out Corbin, as Zayn tries to build some momentum.

Corbin would slow down Zayn’s pace and push the match in his direction.  The power and wear down game was all a part of Corbin’s strategy.  This proved to keep Sami Zayn grounded and stop his offense.

Baron Corbin continues to add insult to injury by smack talking him as he continues to beat him down.  The former Golden Gloves Champion would dissect Sami Zayn with a flurry of strikes throughout the match.

The slow pace perhaps allowed Zayn to breath as he started to mount a comeback.  A devastating clothesline allows Zayn to fight back into the match.  As it looks like Sami Zayn has found his groove, Baron Corbin uses the ring to inflict more damage.

The offense of Corbin continues to take its toll on Zayn.  The pain can be seen after every maneuver is performed.  As the two fight off each other’s signature moves, it is Zayn’s Helluva Kick to ends Corbin’s night.
