3. Roderick Strong

Roddy is the only competitor on this list who was on the TakeOver: Chicago card. While he has made it onto numerous TakeOver specials thus far, it seems like he’s always been an afterthought. Why not get him to the point where he’s a bigger part of the show?

Strong debuted in NXT in October, as a part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. He was the mystery partner for Austin Aries – but Aries was injured almost immediately after. That injury could very well have impacted how Roddy was initially used, and it seems like it took a while to get something new worked out.

A few things happening now may be indicators of Strong’s near future in NXT. First, he’s been on the periphery of the NXT Championship for weeks now. He had a stellar number one contender’s match against Hideo Itami before TakeOver: Chicago. And even his battles with SAnitY have been somewhat high-profile matches.

Second, and probably more notably, Strong was the subject of a multi-part video package that showed the NXT Universe the man behind the wrestler. It was reminiscent of the series of videos about Finn Balor as he was gearing up for his NXT Championship match against Kevin Owens.

Perhaps Roddy is on the path to the spotlight already.
