Finn Balor Gets A Surprise Guest

Paul Heyman appearing was definitely a surprise. Whether a pleasant one or not, I’m still up in the air. Here’s why:

Heyman coming out and heaping praise on Balor could mean one of two things. It could be WWE’s way of prepping the fans for a Balor victory, setting the table for a possible title match. Or, it could be WWE’s way of trying to shut down the hype to minimize fan backlash after Balor loses.

Either way, Balor getting the rub from Heyman can only mean the higher-ups have faith in him. I just question the necessity of it at all.

Finn Balor is clearly someone the fans want to see in the main event scene. He’s someone that they are pulling for to win the

fatal five-way match at Extreme Rules. The possibility of Balor vs. Lesnar is intriguing, to say the least. Just picturing Brock standing across from a painted up Balor, totally no-selling it because he’s Brock Lesnar, is crazy. Lesnar could suplex Balor out of his skin. But we’ve seen Balor take on Samoa Joe and come out on top – is there much of a difference between Brock and Joe? (Yes, yes there is)

But hey, Balor got in a dig at Brock’s spotty attendance, so there’s that.
