No. 1 Contender’s Match for the Impact World Championship
James Storm vs Magnus vs Ethan Carter III

Result: EC3 def. Magnus and James Storm

The fight starts between bitter rivals EC3 and James Storm with Magnus getting in offense when he can.  Storm using a different weapon tonight as he brings out the soda bottle on both men.  This gives Storm firm control as he soaks in the adulation of the audience.  Just as it seems like Storm has found his group, it is quickly stopped with a double suplex on the ramp.  As the match starts to heat up, the weapons start to make their appearance.  EC3 and Magnus continue to cooperate to take out James Storm and the attack turns to the back of James Storm.  Ethan Carter hits Magnus inadvertently with the kendo stick and the match is back to a triple threat.

Once the match starts to break down, it is the perfect opportunity for James Storm to find his way back into the match.  Storm turns up his offensive physicality and he’s the last man standing considering the attack on him from earlier.  All three men find some offensive momentum but there is only one wrestler who can challenge for the World Championship.  James Storm hits the Last Call Superkick on Magnus but EC3 knocks him out of the ring.  Ethan Carter III pins Magnus to become the number one contender for the Impact World Championship match.

This is the perfect payoff to a rivalry that has surrounded the World Championship without either one of them winning it.  As a plus, adding in Magnus is logical because he needs a golden ticket to being World Champion.  It also creates a match that doesn’t just involve EC3 and James Storm.  I love the consistency with focusing on the back of Storm.  Impact does an amazing job at making these matches feel important.  Whether it be with the build or the will to win by the competitors, these matches are always must see.
