6. The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins – WWE Raw, May 2

The only match to show up from Raw only took place about three weeks ago — The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins. This determined the next contender to Dean Ambrose’s WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Finding a Match of the Year candidate from Raw is usually difficult. The show features short matches, most of which are under 10 minutes, so it’s not enough time for the Superstars to tell an in-ring story. This despite the three hours they’re given to perform — but the main event usually gets an exception.

In this match, Balor and Rollins were the in-ring technicians, while Miz played a role and did it perfectly. He took a lot of offense from both babyfaces, barely being able to shake in a move or two. This allowed for Balor and Rollins to go at the A-Lister, and even each other to put on main event-caliber moves you wouldn’t usually see on Raw.

There were times it looked like Balor and Rollins had the match in the ring, especially when the former looked to hit Coup de Grace on Miz. However, the surprising interference from both Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe, both of which were legal since it’s a Triple Threat Match, added wild dramatics to the end. Joe first took out Rollins, while Wyatt stopped Balor from hitting his finisher and disappeared. This let the slimy Miz crawl on top of the Demon to get the win.
