5. AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon – WrestleMania 33

Remember when fans were angry about AJ Styles facing Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33. That lasted for a hot second, as once these two opened the show, they settled in and put on the best match of the evening.

Styles led the way, sure. His technical wrestling can’t be matched by just about any WWE Superstar, so he did more than his share, which fans expected.

However, the difference was what McMahon brought to the table. He’s always going to be known for the death-defying stunts at PPVs, but at WrestleMania, he put to rest the critical reception of not being able to wrestle.

Shane O’Mac proved he could keep up with Styles. He may not be an A-list wrestler, but the man’s performance should have earned the respect of those who thought he couldn’t last. The spots were included here, like a failed Shooting Star Press, which was McMahon’s role here.

Styles won, something that only made sense since he’s the long-term performer on SmackDown. However, he didn’t win convincingly, as McMahon held his end of the bargain in what was one of the best matches of the year.
