Mark Henry

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only theme song in wrestling written and performed by Oscar winners. Now that’s not only pretty cool, but it almost guarantees greatness.

In 2006, Three 6 Mafia appeared on SmackDown to perform “Some Bodies Gonna Get It” for Henry, who faced Chris Benoit. Three 6 Mafia was fresh off their Oscar win for Hustle & Flow a few months earlier. The song contained the lyric, “Somebody gon’ get their wig split,” which is the strangest but most appropriate lyric in all of pro wrestling.

Henry was kicking off one of his runs as a human wrecking machine. As a record holding powerlifter, there are few WWE Superstars from any era who can match Henry’s strength. While Henry was demolishing everyone in front of him, Three 6 Mafia would encourage him to the ring, with a chorus of “Beat him up, beat him up/Break his neck, break his neck.”

Several years later, the theme would take on even more of a meaning as Henry inducted his first victim into the Hall of Pain. For someone who spent so much of his career injured, but continued to persevere and become a terrifying monster, it’s no doubt he eventually became world champ. But the theme song struck fear into the hearts of many opponents.
