The SmackDown Live Mid Card Division

Highlights of the Division

Dolph Ziggler pulled an improbable win over the former WWE Champion AJ Styles in the Smackdown Live main event. This victory won’t validate a possibility that the Showoff might even with the ladder match at Money in the Bank. He’s still considered a pretender in the division till he consistently gathers enough wins to warrant a serious look down the road. He beat AJ Styles this week, can he beat another contender next week? The jury is still out on that one.

Kevin Owens suffered another loss in tag action to Shinsuke Nakamura once again. Having the champion lose consecutively to the same competitor two straight weeks cheapens the championship and its reign. Owens will have a shot next week to exact his revenge against WWE’s newest Rockstar. The WWE should be wise on how they book this match and not corner the talent they have in a box.

As for Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin, both men might have unsettled business with each other but at this point it’s somewhat mute. Even if they exchange wins from one another, it won’t get them any closer to a title shot down the road. Both men need to win the MITB ladder match to restore any credibility they had before, especially Baron Corbin. The Lone Wolf was primed for a main event run and should be the dark horse favorite to capture the briefcase.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
