WWE Rumors: Extreme Rules Main Event Winner May Have Changed

The odds have drastically shifted to one person to win the main event of Extreme Rules.

At the inaugural WWE Great Balls of Fire event, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will make his first title defense in over three months, as he is scheduled to face the winner of a Fatal Five-Way match between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt. This will take place at Extreme Rules.

With the annual event looming, Joe is now the odds-on favorite to become the No. 1 contender for Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship.

Reported by F4WOnline, the original winners were predicted to be either Rollins or Balor. While this match is still expected to be a one-off to concentrate on the feud of Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman to occur at SummerSlam, the change in the winner just recently took place.

This change appeared on the online betting site, Paddy Power, who has received a great deal of smart money throughout the year. In fact, so much money was put on Joe that he was taken off the board.

Of course, similar to so many other occasions, Vince McMahon is subject to change his mind at any given moment and either return the decision to favor Balor or Rollins, or perhaps shift it to Wyatt or Reigns. However, with Reigns vs. Lesnar penciled in for WrestleMania 34, the Big Dog has virtually the worst odds to win.

If Joe indeed wins, WWE may have a tough time effectively getting him over. Not only would WWE have to spend time making Lesnar a babyface, but if Joe loses, it could stifle some momentum that he has garnered over the past few weeks.

Another option could be turning Joe into a babyface, and keeping Lesnar as a dominate heel with Heyman as the heat-seeking mouthpiece. However, Joe is sitting quite well in the heel slot, and it may be too quick to feel like an organic turn.
