WWE United States Championship Match
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

For a while, Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Championship looked like a way of getting this feud onto the bigger stage of SummerSlam. However, with the recent events on SmackDown Live, Owens may have a feud lined up for the summer.

For the past two weeks, Shinsuke Nakamura has pinned Owens in tag team matches. They’re set for a one-on-one on Tuesday, but no matter how that goes, Nakamura has a leg up on the United States Champion for a future bout.

Nakamura vs. Owens could be a one-and-done match at Battleground. Given the magnitude of these two Superstars and them potentially fighting, why not give them the biggest stage of SummerSlam for this? Maybe it’s a guarantee either way, especially if KO drops the U.S. Title in July.

Owens vs. Nakamura has the chance of being this show’s top match, given the in-ring acumen of both competitors. It would be an opportunity for the King of Strong Style to shed the subpar match he had with Dolph Ziggler at Backlash, while adding to the former ROH star’s match resume.
