3. Trish Stratus and Lita Main Event Raw

Eleven years before the Divas Revolution caught fire, Trish Stratus and Lita were raising the bar for Women’s wrestling in one of the WWE’s greatest ever rivalries. Their contrasting styles, looks and characters made for an excellent dynamic, and did things in the ring the Women’s division hadn’t seen before.

On December 6, 2004, the two got a rare opportunity to main event Raw. These two weren’t the side show or complementary pieces, they were the stars. And they delivered, Lita hitting a moonsault to win the Women’s Championship.

This was the first time a women’s match had been a main event on Raw, and it wasn’t until 12 years later that we saw it happen again. Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte to win the Raw Women’s Championship on October 3, 2016. While still rare, the WWE women are proving they can main event not only Raw and SmackDown, but pay-per-views.

We’ll see many more female main events in the future, but Lita and Trish Stratus can always say they were first.
