AJ Styles vs Dolph Ziggler

Result: AJ Styles wins via pinfall

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

Our second match of the night also is a rematch of a recent contest, this one having taken place on SmackDown Live last week. Eager to win in back to back matches, Dolph Ziggler looked to impress against AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One was out for success as well, fully knowing how important momentum will be heading into Money in the Bank.

From the opening bell, Styles and Ziggler took it to one another with an array of offensive moves. A commercial break interrupted the action early, but the two showed no signs of slowing down. The match frequently saw big moves being used, including a rather impressive Fame-asser by Ziggler. In the final few moments, the Showoff was able to block a Phenomenal Forearm attempt and tried one last time to gain the win. However, Styles was able to showcase his resiliency and hit the Styles Clash for the pinfall.

Although these two produced a strong performance, the fact is they weren’t given nearly enough time. No doubt a result of the two-hour format, we didn’t necessarily have to see them go at it again. Sure it’s nice to see them in the ring together, but by losing tonight, Ziggler’s win last week is meaningless. I’m normally something who isn’t bothered by 50/50 booking too often, yet WWE made a bad call here. Neither man benefits from this decision, which is a shame when you think about it.

Right before the next contest, another installment of the Fashion Files was featured. As an added bonus, the New Day made a guest appearance, displaying their entertaining personalities per usual.
