Kevin Owens vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Result: Shinsuke Nakamura wins via pinfall

Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

As Shane McMahon was on the phone handling the Baron Corbin situation, Naomi entered his office in a rage. Demanding a match against Lana, she went as far as to offer to put her title on the line. Shane accepted the request, and so at Money in the Bank Lana will receive a shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship.

Also, Baron Corbin decided to take Sami Zayn’s spot on commentary for the main event. So with that being said, let’s transition to our final match of the evening. When the entrances concluded, the top stars put everything they had into the contest. Nakamura was booked strongly throughout, yet this is understandable given he’s still new to the roster.

In the final moments, Owens tried to finish the match with the Pop-Up Powerbomb. Instead, Nakamura avoided the move and nailed a had kick to the head. He followed up with the Kinshasa, earning another victory in the process. Celebrating his victory inside the ring, Nakamura was blindsided when Corbin entered the ring and hit the End of Days. The show ended with the Lone Wolf surveying the damage from the entrance ramp.

For some reason, WWE thinks that it’s okay for Owens to lose three weeks in a row on television. He’s the current United States Champion, and so he shouldn’t be booked so poorly in my opinion. The Miz often finds himself left staring at the bright lights on Raw, but at least he wins when it matters most. Something needs to change here, or the midcard championship could lose its luster.
