5. Dolph Ziggler

For wrestling fans, the name ‘Dolph Ziggler’ can be associated with WWE quite easily because of his longevity in WWE over the past eight years or so. For outsiders, the name ‘Dolph Ziggler’ isn’t likely to conjure up the image of a tough pro wrestler.

Quite simply, there’s something ‘odd’ about the name Dolph Ziggler. It doesn’t sound intimidating, nor does it create the image of a tough guy you’d see suplexing people in a wrestling ring. If anything, it sounds like the name of a male porn star.

It’s unlikely that’s the kind of imagery WWE wants to project with Dolph Ziggler, but that’s the kind of direction they went in when they gave him this name.

But if there’s one silver lining with this ring name, it’s that Ziggler managed to overcome this awful name and has since become a respected wrestler in WWE. He has won numerous championships and distinctions, and still has a solid fanbase.

It would seem that this continued popularity proves that if you’re good enough of a wrestler, you can overcome even the most crippling of gimmicks or bad names given to you by WWE’s creative department.
