Rising: Lana

Although Lana is supposed to be a heel right now, it wouldn’t be a shock to see a face turn from her in the future. Considering Charlotte will likely return to the dark side at some point, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Lana to switch alignments. She has received strongly positive reactions since debuting, and after trying to insert herself into the Money in the Bank ladder match, she was able to coax Naomi into giving her a title opportunity at the Pay Per View.

We’ve seen Shane McMahon in tense conversations with Kevin Owens since the superstar shakeup, and I wonder if Lana could cause him similar problems while she is still a heel. Easily one of the best talkers in the business, Lana did an excellent job on Talking Smack, and it was clear to me that Shane O’Mac was selling annoyance with Lana. He simply did not want to deal with her, and he pretty much told Renee Young that he wasn’t a fan of her getting a title opportunity from Naomi. After all, he was the one who told Lana that she doesn’t deserve to be in the ladder match, simply because she hasn’t put in her dues.

There’s a very real chance Lana could capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank, and while I hope Naomi’s reign as champion doesn’t end in this manner, there are a few fans out there who believe Naomi has been a bore. Those fans would likely be excited to see Lana, who always manages to garner attention with her antics and mic work, suddenly receive that honor.
