WWE Rumors: Kurt Angle vs. Triple H Match Planned

Kurt Angle’s first WWE match in over one decade will reportedly be with a familiar face.

Kurt Angle returned to the WWE for the 2017 Hall of Fame ceremony, being inducted as the headlining member. It was his first company appearance in over 10 years, with the time in-between being with TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling.

On the Raw after WrestleMania 33, Angle joined WWE programming as the Raw General Manager. He’s since held this spot for two months, handling the on-screen duty of controlling Raw’s Superstars.

However, there will always be the discussion of Angle returning to a WWE ring, something fans may be more interested in than anything. According to Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, this may happen soon (h/t Wrestling Inc). The plan is for the Olympic Gold Medalist to face Triple H, although it’s unknown when this will definitely take place.

It’s worth noting of Angle’s developing storyline on Raw, featuring unknown text messages that would negatively affect him. Commentator Corey Graves has taken a secondary role in this angle.

Triple H has been off WWE TV since WrestleMania 33, where he lost a match to Seth Rollins. The same goes for Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, who took a table bump during this bout. Her name has hardly been brought up since.

If this match will happen soon, then SummerSlam could be its destination. It’s WWE’s second-biggest show of the year, so bringing Angle back there would be a grand-enough stage. Maybe it opens the door for a WrestleMania 34 match, too, potentially with a full-time Superstar from Raw.
