The SmackDown Live Tag Team Division

Highlights of the Division

Interesting developments have definitely shaped up the championship narrative in the tag team division. With Zack Ryder returning from injury, it looks like the Hype Bros are back in business. This will shift Mojo Rawley away from the mid-card division for the time being. Also according to their interview segment on Talking Smack—Zack Ryder will demand a title shot for his team after winning the No. 1 Contender Battle Royal last December. Ryder did get injured in that match and the Hype Bros lost their opportunity to face the Wyatt Family for the championships.

Not quite sure how it affects the outcome of the title match between the Usos and the New Day. There could be a scenario where the Usos do retain their championships but continue feuding with the New Day all the way till Summerslam. The Hype Bros in the pecking order of contenders will need some serious footing to gain any traction as legitimate title challengers. Picking up wins over the Ascension and the Colons will be key in validating any title push in the future.

The Usos might have lost their match on Smackdown Live but they’ll be a sure bet to retain their championships this Sunday. As for Breezango, the fact that the Colons said they weren’t responsible for trashing the Fashion Police office leads to American Alpha as the prime suspects. They are the only legitimate tag team to have disappeared since the end of April. If this is the genesis of a heel turn for the former Smackdown Live Tag Team Champs—it’ll be a welcome change to the stale characters they have been this past year.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
