SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Naomi (c) vs. Lana

The Ravishing Russian is making her in-ring debut as a member of SmackDown Live at Money in the Bank. Wasting no time, she’s got herself a title match right out of the gate.

The wild card in the Women’s Championship match is just how good Lana is in the ring. She’s been working in NXT for several months now, after a single televised WWE match (on the WrestleMania 32 pre-show, no less). There are equal chances that Lana will be a perfectly fine competitor, or Eva Marie in the ring.

The good news is that Naomi can probably do enough to salvage the match, regardless of Lana’s inexperience. And even if by some small miracle Lana is the second coming of Meiko Satomura in the ring, there’s little to no chance that Naomi is losing the title.

Lana may have a future Women’s Championship run in her future, but that time isn’t now. She would benefit much more from working a bunch of matches without a championship to carry right now. It will let the audience appreciate her in-ring work that much more, and a title reign down the line will seem more appropriate. So Naomi should leave St. Louis as champion.
