2. Baron Corbin, Carmella win Money in the Bank matches

The final image of SmackDown last week, that of Shinsuke Nakamura climbing the ladder and retrieving the Money in the Bank briefcase, is a strong indication he won’t be winning on Sunday night.

Don’t sleep on Baron Corbin. The WWE has quietly being putting more spotlight on Corbin in the buildup to this event. He’s had a bit more time to talk on the mic, took out Nakamura to close SmackDown two weeks ago and was placed in a commentary spot during the main event for the same show. Yes, he was pinned in the six-way tag team match on Tuesday night, but he still looked strong by taking out Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler shortly after.

Corbin has become a regular in the main event picture post-Superstar Shakeup, and handing him the briefcase will give the WWE time to build him as a legitimate contender before he eventually cashes in and becomes champion.

The same can be said of Carmella. The Princess of Staten Island is hardly the odds-on favorite to win the first ever Women’s MITB briefcase, but she is the ideal choice.

Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Natalya are already established as championship contenders on SmackDown, and they will all get plenty of shots to dethrone Naomi or Lana in the coming months. Carmella, however, can use the Money in the Bank contract as a launching pad for her character sat some point down the line.

She can stay away from the Women’s Championship picture for the time being, and when the time is right, cash in and move herself into a prime spot on SmackDown.
