2. AJ Styles

This matchup at Battleground would be unique in that it could potentially parlay into a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam with Cena.

How does that sound?

Going into Money in the Bank, sure, some probably wanted Styles to win, but let’s be real: He didn’t need that contract to remain in the title picture.

After all, he is the self-dubbed Face That Runs The Place on Smackdown.

If the WWE decides not to pull the trigger on a Cena and Mahal one-on-one match at SummerSlam, mixing Cena in with Styles plus Mahal would really elevate Mahal to a level that, even if he were to lose, would still make him look strong.

Hell, from a fan’s point of view he’s going up the best professional wrestler in the world in Styles and Cena who is on the verge of holding the record for the most WWE Championship reigns in the company’s history.

For now, Styles could be gunning for the WWE Championship in light of Orton losing to Mahal at two-straight “pay-per-view” events.

This rivalry could be risky to book prior to SummerSlam, but if booked correctly and Mahal beats Styles via a count-out or he disqualifies himself, it won’t make Styles look any weaker, but rather gain more heat on Mahal.

No way can Mahal win cleanly here. It will make Styles look way too bad.
