Seth Rollins vs. Curt Hawkins

Result: Seth Rollins defeated Curt Hawkins via pinfall

Rating: 2.0 out of 5 stars

It’s astounding that someone as good in the ring as Seth Rollins can have so many dull matches. Don’t get me wrong, he’s had his fair share of classic bouts (usually as part of The Shield), but a lot of his matches are boring.

Not his work, either – the matches themselves. It’s like he just moves from spot to spot, and because his character is non-existent, there’s no reason to get invested in him. Look at the difference between a Seth Rollins and Enzo/Cass from one segment before. Right now, you should want to see Enzo get some revenge. You should want to see Cass get his comeuppance. What should we want to see Seth Rollins do?

Hell, Curt Hawkins has more character right now than Rollins. And I don’t want to see Hawkins do much of anything. But Rollins comes out and does his Sling Blades, his Blockbusters, and all the other moves made famous by someone else, and everyone oohs and aahs.

After the match, Bray Wyatt comes on the screen. It’s like a competition between Rollins and his non-existent character and Wyatt and his completely destroyed persona. I used to be really into Bray Wyatt, marked out big time when he won the WWE Championship – now I just can’t even listen to a word he says. There’s nothing there. And Rollins and Wyatt are going to face off at Great Balls of Fire, and it’s going to be completely forgettable like ten minutes after it finishes.
