Examining the benefits of Samoa Joe defeating Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Great Balls Of Fire.

At Wrestlemania 33, Brock Lesnar defeated Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship, thus ending a world title charade that went on far too long.  With the belt now firmly on a superstar who hadn’t been on the shelf for the preceding 12 years, the options moving forward for Lesnar and his potential prospects from RAW seemed endless.

After a brand split on April 10th, the roster for the red brand seemed stock with competition.  With 4 former world champions in Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt, and Seth Rollins all chomping at the bit for the next title shot, it came as a small shock when Samoa Joe was victorious at Extreme Rules in a Fatal 5-Way match that inked him as the official new challenger for “The Beast Incarnate”.

Now, on paper, this seems like a no-doubt victory for Lesnar.  With SummerSlam less than 2 months away and the fact that Brock has main evented the last 3, it appears that Joe may just be a means to an end.  Plus, with rumors flying about either Braun Strowman or Roman Reigns battling Lesnar for the strap at the second biggest show of the year on a daily basis, Joe’s time in the main event may be short.

But when you really look at this feud and take into account how “The Destroyer” has been booked since Extreme Rules, it doesn’t seem crazy to think that Joe has a chance on July 9th.  And quite frankly, a Joe win could make a lot of sense.

Ahead we breakdown 3 reasons Samoa Joe should defeat Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire.
