The Smackdown Live Tag Team Division

Highlights of the Division

The rap battle between the Usos and the New Day was probably one of the most memorable segments this past year but it won’t be a deciding factor in their upcoming rematch. The defending tag champs have shown to be at the top of their game both in the ring and on the microphone. They have already cleaned out the division and they’ll most likely drop the titles at Battleground. The New Day seem like they are in position to capture the gold and go for a lengthy title run but the Usos are too talented to let that happen. It’s clearly a toss-up on who’s going to run the division with an iron fist.

The underlying drama between the Hype Bros could be planting the seeds of a break-up which would be a huge mistake. Both men in singles competition have largely been forgotten in recent past especially with Mojo Rawley. He had a decent win at Wrestlemania and he wasn’t seen on TV for weeks after that. Same could be said for Zack Ryder who never got a serious push since 2011. They haven’t reached their full potential as a tag team both in NXT and on Smackdown Live. The WWE would be doing a disservice by entertaining the idea of breaking this team apart.

Teams like Breezango and American Alpha made a dent of TV time this past Tuesday but they’ll need to clash sooner than later. The conspiracy regarding the trashed office of the Fashion Police hasn’t been resolved. The fingers might eventually point to the former Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Gable’s interaction and match with AJ Styles proves he believes he shouldn’t be under-looked—which speaks volumes to the lack of appearances by American Alpha.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
