Impact Wrestling: Results and Highlights for July 6

Reviewing Thursday night’s episode of Impact Wrestling.
Impact Wrestling starts with Alberto El Patron’s championship celebration. A celebration that would trigger Lashley to make an appearance. The angry former champion wants his rematch as soon as he can get it. El Patron is a fighter and will defend his title against anyone. After the celebration becomes personal, all Alberto El Patron wants to do is fight.
The Super X Cup Tournament begins tonight. Jeremy Borash makes the huge announcement of the return of the tournament featuring some of the up and coming stars of the X-Division. Wrestlers from Pro Wrestling Noah, GFW, Impact, and AAA are all competing in the eight-man tournament. This could be a huge launching pad for the future of the X-Division.
Speaking of the X-Division, it is in full force on tonight’s Impact. The champion Sonjay Dutt battles Caleb Konley who is looking to make waves in the division. Also, Matt Sydal looks to continue to build on his previous momentum by defeating Braxton Sutter. This could put any of these X-Division stars on the map and potentially set up a shot at the X-Division Championship.

It is the first show after Slammiversary 15 this past Sunday. Tonight comes all the fallout from one of the biggest shows of the year for Impact Wrestling. It is also the first show since the official GFW and Impact merger from earlier in the week. There is still unfinished business from Slammiversary but also a slew of new things coming from this weeks’ show.
