Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe

Finn Balor and Samoa Joe feuded in WWE NXT for about nine months. They went after the NXT Championship, with Joe winning it from Balor at a live event in 2016. Both headlined multiple TakeOver events, until Balor was called up in 2016 and Joe in 2017.

Balor had nothing to do at Great Balls of Fire, which happened for the second of three PPVs since he returned from injury. It’s a curious handling of one of WWE’s top babyfaces, which should change by SummerSlam.

Joe just headlined Great Balls of Fire, getting a chance at Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. He lost by pinfall, though, and likely won’t be back for a title match until someone else holds the belt.

Kind of like Wyatt vs. Rollins, Joe vs. Balor is a feud with two Superstars that don’t have much else lined up, at least according to this projected SummerSlam card. Hopefully more effort is put into it than Rollins vs. Wyatt, especially with the hard-hitting promos of Joe’s.
