Jinder Mahal vs Tye Dillinger
Result: Jinder Mahal wins via pinfall
Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars
Before our first real contest of the night, the commentary team gave an update on tonight’s main event. As a result of the previous segment, AJ Styles and John Cena will combat Kevin Owens and Rusev in a tag team match. After the announcement was made, the attention shifted to the contest between Jinder Mahal and Tye Dillinger.
Following their respective entrances, Mahal and Dillinger wasted no time taking the fight to one another. Right off the bat, the Perfect 10 tried to end things early with a crossbody. He was unable to do so, but Mahal managed to take control of the contest. A stiff clothesline slowed the pace of the match, and it started a slow and methodical defeat for Dillinger.
The former NXT superstar attempted to get back into the match on multiple occasions, however, he was continually thwarted by Mahal. Battered and beaten, Dillinger was easy prey for the Maharajah, who ended the match with the Khallas. Just like that, the Perfect 10 has begun his downward spiral.
After earning the victory thanks to the Khallas, the Maharajah wasted little time addressing the WWE Universe. Turning his attention to his upcoming Punjabi Prison match with Randy Orton, Mahal brought up how the Viper has insulted him and his family. Angered that his rival is cheered for such actions, Mahal bashed those that supported Orton. He then transitioned to how the 1.3 billion people in India recognize his status as the greatest WWE Champion of all time.
To close out the promo, Mahal announced that he intends on bringing the Punjabi Prison to SmackDown Live next week.
